Caitlin Gibson and Ruben Santiago of Lakewood, NJ have been charged with the brutal murder of their infant daughter following a disturbing investigation.

Earlier this week, authorities responded to a home on Pinehurst Drive in Lakewood, with a report that a three-month-old was having a difficult time breathing. When police arrived at the scene, the infant was unresponsive.

The infant was taken to Ocean University Medical Center, then transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Disturbingly, a post-mortem examination determined that the infant’s cause of death was “blunt force trauma to the head, causing fracturing and a subdural hematoma” and the manner of death to be a homicide.

On May 7th, both parents were taken into custody. Both parents remain behind bars at the Ocean County Jail as they await their detention hearings.
