Multi-Department Police Chase Ends in Tragedy

Toms River, NJ - One juvenile is in custody after killing two passengers, and leaving two others in critical condition during a high-speed pursuit fleeing police.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Toms River police initially attempted to stop a speeding BMW but called off the pursuit due to safety concerns. Officers alerted neighboring towns, and Seaside Heights police later clocked the vehicle racing at 118 mph.

Just minutes after the chase was abandoned, disaster struck. Around 11:00 PM, the BMW slammed into a Toyota Corolla carrying four passengers. The violent collision killed the two front-seat passengers on impact, while the two in the back were critically injured.

The driver, a minor, was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center. He now faces a series of serious charges, including aggravated manslaughter, death by auto, and assault by auto.
